WORSHIP AND MUSIC MINISTRY
Our weekend worship services are a blend between traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs. We believe God has called us to incorporate worship that lifts up Christ and brings people together from various backgrounds and stations in life. We utilize a praise band and choir in our Sunday morning services.
MUSIC, CHOIR, INSTRUMENTS
Psalm 95:1-2 says, "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."
The purpose of our music ministry is to provide opportunities for each member of our congregation to do just that. Whether we're singing "psalms, hymns or spiritual songs" (Eph. 5:19), our goal is to draw everyone into the presence of our Lord, worshiping Him for who He is and for what He has done for us. He alone is our audience, and He alone is the object of our praise.
Everyone from youth through adult is invited to participate in the Celebration Choir, which provides special music at each Sunday morning worship service. The Celebration Choir also provides musicals typically at Christmas, Easter, July 4th and other special times.
First Baptist is blessed with a number of talented and dedicated soloists who provide musical ministry in addition to the above. We use an adult Praise Team to help lead worship in the main services. Our Youth also have a Praise Team for their services. Both Praise Teams also employ a Praise Band to assist them with the musical accompaniment.
We are always looking for additional participants in the music ministry. If you can play an instrument on a high school level or better, if you can sing a vocal part, and you would like to dedicate your talents to be used in leading others in worship, we invite you to join us.
The Forever Young Choir, comprised of members age fifty and above, has a wonderful ministry to homebound and nursing home residents. At least twice a month, this ministry team "takes church" to those who can't come to church. They minister to the homebound and sick through songs and prayer. The Forever Young Choir has also presented Christmas and Patriotic musicals in church services.
If you are age 50 or above (or you're married to someone who is), we invite you to participate in the ministry of Forever Young.
